Description
The Mini Wimshurst Electrostatic Generator kit is designed for older kids (or adults) to learn about “static” electricity by actually building a working Wimshurst generator. This generator kit capable of achieving up to 60,000 volts of “static” electricity. The complete Wimshurst Electrostatic Generator, comprises of a single high speed motor driving two contra-rotating rotating disks via an ingenious belt mechanism. Two PCB neutraliser bars with 4 brass brush contacts and supports for the generator form two high voltage capacitors for a much improved output, hese are connected to two balls on adjustable 2mm steel discharge rods. Each disk has 16 foil segments making 32 in total, these passing the accumulated high voltages to two PCB charge collectors.
This is the second revision (V2) of the kit with much improved performance and reliability, the improvements include a switched battery box for 4 AA cells (not included), a single motor and drive belt, improved discharge balls .
